BHEL Builds Power Plants in Telangana

BHEL has received a pair of engineering, procurement and construction contracts from the government of Telangana, India, for two new power plants.

BHEL will construct the  800-megawatt plant in Kothagudem, located about 270 kilometers from Hyderabad and a 1,080-megawatt plant in Manuguru, about 60 kilometers northeast of Kothagudem.

Under instructions from Telangana’s chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, BHEL will complete the Manuguru project within two years, while Kothagudem will take three years to construct, BHEL said in a statement. In all, the government plans to add 6,000 megawatts of new capacity to the state within three years.
