Go Gauge Executes Breakbulk Crane Shipment to India
We are pleased to highlight a successful breakbulk operation carried out by our member, Go Gauge Logistics, involving the transportation of a Wumag WT 850 telescopic crane from Turkey to Nhava Sheva, India.
The project required detailed planning and engineering expertise, covering the full scope from factory collection and secure warehousing in Turkey to customs clearance, cargo survey, and ocean freight from Tekirdağ to Nhava Sheva.
Shipment Details
- Cargo: Wumag WT 850 Telescopic Crane
- Dimensions: 16 m length / 4 m height
- Weight: 50 metric tons
- Route: Turkey → Nhava Sheva, India
Due to the size and technical complexity of the cargo, the operation required engineered lifting and sea-fastening solutions. Go Gauge’s engineering team developed a detailed lifting plan, including Centre of Gravity (COG) calculations and a customized sea fastening arrangement, ensuring safe handling and timely approvals.
Challenges & Risk Mitigation
The project presented several operational challenges, which were successfully managed through proactive planning and technical expertise:
Suspension of Regular Vessel Calls
- Risk: Potential delays due to service disruptions
- Mitigation: Continuous monitoring and identification of alternative vessel options
Limited Vessel Availability
- Risk: Extended lead times
- Mitigation: Strategic shift to a container vessel with engineered loading approval
Absence of Standard Lifting Points
- Risk: Handling and safety concerns
- Mitigation: Custom lifting design supported by validated COG calculations and pre-lashing plans
Rejection of Initial Lifting Plan
- Risk: Approval delays
- Mitigation: Technical optimization aligned with carrier requirements
Engineering-Driven Project Execution
Through engineering-led solutions and precise coordination, the shipment was executed safely and efficiently, demonstrating Go Gauge Projects’ capability in handling complex OOG and breakbulk cargo movements.
Moving Heavy, Moving Smart.
We congratulate our member for this successful execution and their continued contribution to excellence within our global project cargo network.
