Racing Cargo Delivers OOG Machinery From Taiwan to Mexico
We are pleased to highlight a complex project cargo operation successfully managed by our member, Racing Cargo Mexico, involving the transportation of a Transformer Machining Center across the Asia–Mexico trade lane.
This shipment demonstrates that in project logistics, success is not defined by ideal conditions but by timely decision-making, clear communication, and the ability to adapt as conditions evolve.
Project Overview
Cargo Configuration
• 1 × 40’ High Cube
• 1 × 40’ Flat Rack (OOG)
Cargo: Transformer Machining Center
Dimensions: 774 × 333 × 420 cm
Weight: 28,800 kg
Industry: Industrial Machinery / Manufacturing
Route: Taichung, Taiwan → Manzanillo, Mexico
Operational Challenges
The project required careful management due to tight timelines, dimensional constraints, and strict regulatory requirements. Updated cargo dimensions required a revised carrier strategy, as vessel stability restrictions limited options for overheight cargo.
Instead of compromising the shipment, Racing Cargo secured a more suitable carrier for OOG cargo, improving both schedule reliability and free time at the destination. Operating under FOB terms added complexity at origin, making cutoff control critical, while close coordination ensured both containers sailed together under a single bill of lading.
Adaptive Execution
During transit, Typhoon Fung-wong temporarily affected port operations in Taiwan, impacting barge availability between Taichung and Kaohsiung. The team responded with real-time monitoring and proactive schedule adjustments to maintain shipment continuity.
At the destination, strict compliance requirements were carefully managed. Due to IMMEX regulations in Mexico and seasonal permit restrictions, all processes were executed without shortcuts, ensuring full regulatory alignment.
Once permits were secured:
- The standard container was delivered under normal conditions
- The Flat Rack unit was released, unstuffed, and transported using an extendable lowboy trailer
- Final delivery was completed safely and in full compliance
Reliable Execution Under Changing Conditions
This operation was defined by informed decision-making, transparency, and coordinated execution at every stage. Despite operational challenges, the project was completed successfully, ensuring continuity for the client’s operations.
Racing Cargo Mexico once again demonstrated its capability to manage complex OOG and project cargo shipments, delivering reliable solutions even under unpredictable conditions.
We congratulate our member for this successful execution and their continued contribution to excellence within our global network.
